God, Could You Sell A Cow?

Let me preface this post by saying that my Uncle, Aunt, and my cousin and his family have a 1,200 acre cattle and sheep ranch. My cousin recently took some of their shorthorn cattle to a special sale in Illinois. One of their heifers brought $6,000! I didn't even ask how much they got for the prized bull they sold.

The next day, I got this dreaded bill in my mailbox:

Yes, a bill from Mercy Medical Center. Made me wish I had a cow to sale.;0) Almost instantly, the words to this little chorus (written by John W. Peterson) that we used to sing at North Valley Baptist Church came to mind:

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills,
The wealth in every mine;
He owns the rivers and the rocks and rills,
The sun and stars that shine.
Wonderful riches, more than tongue can tell -
He is my Father so they're mine as well;
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills -
I know that He will care for me.

And, this verse (which I assume the chorus is based on) came to my mind next:

"For every beast of the forest is mine,
and the cattle upon a thousand hills."
Psalm 50:10

God, could you please sell one of your cows and give the money to me?
